Date Night Cheeseboard
Make your date night an easy and fun affair with this cheeseboard. It’s luxurious yet simple to put together. A great treat to have great conversations over!
As a general guideline:
Cheese tastes best at room temperature, so if you’re making this ahead of time, take it out of the fridge at least 15 minutes before serving (longer if you’re in a colder climate).
If you’re serving the cheese uncut, be sure to place a different knife out for each type of cheese.
Wash any fresh fruits and slice larger ones before placing them onto the cheeseboard. You could squeeze lemon juice over apples if you’re worried about them going brown.
Arrange your cheese and fruits first, then fill in gaps with other components!
THE RECIPE
SERVES 2
Ingredients
Cheese
Hard, semi aged cheese (I used aged Cheddar)
Hard, mild cheese (I used Gruyere and Comte)
Creamy cheese (I used Brilliat Savarin)
Soft cheese (I used Ricotta)
Crunch
Crackers (light rice crackers or fruity ones)
Nuts of choice
Breadsticks
Salty
Any type of cold cut; I’m using Serrano ham
Sweet
Fruits of choice, fresh or dried (I’m using Strawberries and Grapes)
Garnish
Herbs (Oregano/Thyme/Rosemary)
Decorations
Tealight candles
Mini spoons and knives
Directions
Begin assembling your cheeseboard with the cheese first. Cut the cheeses while they’re cold, and use a different knife for each cheese, or wash it in between! Spread them apart from each other.
Next, add the fruits.
Then, arrange the cold cuts. In this recipe, I folded the Serrano ham up to create a ‘ripple’ effect.
Add the crunch, playing with shapes, textures, and colours.
I used a cookie cutter to cut the Comte into little hearts. I left them last so they can stand out against the rest of the ingredients. Remember to garnish!
