It was such an honour to be part of Estée Lauder’s launch of their new Advanced Night Repair, and sharing tips on powering up our day with a nutritious breakfast and morning skincare routine.
Owning your skin’s future goes beyond using a skincare product. As we all know, taking care of skin health from the inside is just as important as caring for it from the outside; and how we start our day is as important as how we end our day.
I know this is all easier said than done, but starting our day with breakfast is an easy way to start your day right through the food that you eat. Whether you prefer a hot/cold, asian/western breakfast, here is a quick anatomy of what a balanced breakfast should look like. It should include:
1. Unrefined carbohydrates (e.g. oats, wholemeal bread)
2. Protein (e.g. yoghurt, milk, eggs, nuts, cheese, nut butter)
3. Fruits and/or vegetables
Here’s a recipe for an easy, fuss-free and nutritious breakfast that you can try at home using pantry staples:
Overnight Oats with Blueberries and Goji Berries
3 tbsp rolled oats
3 tbsp frozen blueberries
1 tbsp dried goji berries
1 cup milk (or enough to cover the ingredients)
1 tbsp nuts/seeds of your choice, or nut butter
To garnish: blue pea flowers, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon powder, desiccated coconut
If you’d like, you may add 3-4 dried blue pea flowers steeped in milk to achieve a blue hue
Place all ingredients in a bowl (or jar if you’re going to be eating on the go) and cover. Leave in the fridge overnight to soak
